NOT a “Jack of All Trades”.

We ARE a "Master of One": The cart+checkout flow.

Already got a feel for what FoxyCart is? Great :)

With our unique approach of first serving the developers or designers building the sites, who in turn serve the merchants selling the product, FoxyCart is in a different category than the vast majority of our competition. FoxyCart is not a turnkey solution. This generally makes FoxyCart perfect for some and just plain wrong for others.

If you're a one-man-band musician, no offense is intended by our illustration. It looks incredibly difficult, but we're of the impression that it's legitimately impossible to be the best at every instrument you're playing, at the same time :)

What FoxyCart Isn't

FoxyCart isn't:

  • A turnkey solution that includes a site-building system, email marketing, inventory, analytics, CRM, or etc. FoxyCart is a master of one trade, not a jack of all. That said, we do have a large number of integrations for 3rd party systems.
  • The kitchen sink. FoxyCart does one thing and one thing only (the cart and checkout flow), but it does that one thing better than any other system. (Again though, we encourage using the best tool for each specific job you have, with the available 3rd party integrations.)
  • Built for non-technical users to implement, though very basic HTML knowledge and a desire to learn will get you a long way. (ie. You need to know at least a little bit of HTML to set FoxyCart up, but not to maintain.)
  • A 24/7/365 friend on the phone. We do offer support, and we're happy to discuss best practices and such. But if you want somebody to explain by phone how to construct a link tag, we're probably not going to be able to meet your needs. We're really (really) friendly, and we strive to go above and beyond when we provide support, but we're also a small team, so if you need more dedicated support than we can offer we're happy to recommend some very talented and trustworthy partner developers.

Ready to Get Started?

If FoxyCart sounds like the right fit for your needs, that's great! If you're not sure, feel free to ask. If FoxyCart doesn't sound like it's your bag, we still recommend reading The E-Commerce Bare Necessities on our wiki (and probably our Guide to PCI Compliance), as they contain valuable information regardless the e-commerce platform you end up using. Our goal is to serve web professionals doing e-commerce, even if that means providing education for those ultimately using another solution.

If you've made it this far we might suggest determining what type of user you are and seeing why FoxyCart would work for you. Let us know if you have any questions along the way. We're here to help.
